Another busy week!
We had auditions for the middle school musical, Seussical Jr. on Monday. Tuesday night was J's holiday concert at school. It was a great concert...upbeat and less than an hour long!!!! The rest of the week was gymnastics and Christmas shopping. Today we had the gymnastics team Christmas party and then headed to Franklin to see The Nutcracker. It was an abbreviated version with lots of kids in it. J and I probably knew about 1/4 of the dancers. J's dance teachers were in it as well as kids from her studio. There were many kids we know from ETC too. It was a great show for kids to be in and see.
Tomorrow was supposed to be "Christmas" with the Puglisi's but they are predicting a storm that will be a combination of the last two...8-10 inches of snow and then ice. They haven't got power back to all of NH from the ice storm last week. This can't be good. Anyway, the Puglisi's aren't coming up. We are going to see a church pageant in the morning and then we'll spend the day making cookies and watching old Christmas movies...You'll shoot your eye out!!!

We've Been Busy
Hello everyone,
It's been a busy couple of weeks. Last weekend we headed out to the local Christmas fairs. they have a great one for kids at J's old school in Moultonborough and a more high end craft one in Sandwich. J had a rehearsal for her Christmas dance show on Saturday night. On Sunday we went to meet the team at UNH. The gymnastics team divides into two squads and does a mini competition. After the "show" the kids get to go down on the floor and work out with the team. J just loves it! After the work out we changed into nice clothes in the ladies room and drove to Windham for the Nobody's Children fund raiser. I know, Durham to Windham, but I fell obliged to support Nobody's Children and Vivi was there from Romania.
Friday we were out of school...no power due to the ice storm. We were lucky as we only lost power for about 4 hours. Some people still don't have power. This Saturday night we had J's Christmas dance show. It was really great! Meagan kept it to just under 1 1/2 hours and the kids did a GREAT job! Of course, I forgot the camera! On Sunday we had our annual Mother/Daughter Christmas Tea and then I headed to a Christmas party. It was a busy weekend!
Today I held auditions for Seussical Jr., our middle school spring musical. Now I have the nerve wracking (sp?) chore of casting the show. I am lucky this time....all the kids could move well, most could sing and dance, and a few were really good. It should be a fun show.
Tomorrow night is J's winter concert. That will be fun too. Hope you're staying warm!!!

Follow this blog
Hey,
Look over there to the right. You might need to scroll down a little. See that widget that says, "Followers"? Well if you click on the link there that says, "Follow this blog," you can get an email notice that lets you know when I write a new entry. You can follow along the "exciting" lives of K and J as we tap dance, literally and metaphorically, through life!

NYC!
Today we returned from a great trip to NYC! We stayed with Doug and Shawn. On Friday the four of us went to see Bolt...NYC movie ticket prices are a little higher than New Hampshire movie ticket prices!!!! On Friday we went to the American Museum of Natural History. What a great place. We spent a lot of time in the butterfly exhibit. You can see the exhibit by going to the AMNH live butterfly web cam at: www.amnh.org/exhibitions/butterflies/webcams/cam1.php
In the afternoon we stood in line to get half price tickets to see Shrek, the Musical. It was an okay show. The talent was outstanding but I don't think the music was memorable. On Sunday we met friends from the Village Players to look at the Christmas windows and sight see. It was cold and drizzly. We had a wonderful lunch at La Bonne Soupe and then Jeanne and Shawn went home and I went with the VPs to see August, Osage County. It was a great play...very intense and kinda disturbing. Academy award winning actress, Estelle Parsons who has a home in Wolfeboro and has done some fund raisers for the VPs, had a major role in the play. She invited us to her dressing after the show. We spent about an hour talking with her. She was kind and gracious.
Now we are safe and sound at home!

The Wizard of Oz

I was cast as Aunt Em in the ETC production of The Wizard of Oz. It's very exciting. I love working with this group. Everyone has so much fun and they put on a pretty high level production.
As I said in a previous post, it's too bad Jeanne could not participate this year. She chooses gymnastics over almost any other activity. ETC puts their shows up in about 3 weeks so there are LOTS of rehearsals in those three weeks. For the month of January we will be very busy scurrying between gymnastics and rehearsals.

OKLAHOMA
We had our last run through tonight. Tomorrow and Thursday are dress rehearsals and Friday night we open. It's very exciting to see the whole thing come together. I was very lucky to have a great production crew. I didn't need to worry about the set, costumes, publicity, props, nothing. I just focused on the action on stage. I hope you locals can come to see it.

OKLAHOMA tech week
So, we are into tech week for OKLAHOMA! We spent 8 hours at the Village Players theater today running a cue-to-cue rehearsal. For those of you who don't know theater, that means we got all the lighting and the scene changes set. That way we can run through the show the rest of the week without stopping...we hope. It was a good rehearsal. Even though it was long the crew got a chance to run the scene changes multiple times and the lighting designer was able to aim and focus lights so things should look pretty good on stage.
Hope you can come to see the show!!!

Gymnastics again
J had another meet today. She improved her scores from last week. It's so much fun to watch her. It can be nerve wracking though. I know she wants to do well and when she fell off the beam it was tough to watch. She said the beam gave her the heebie jeebies because it was higher off the floor than the one at her gym.
It's nice that she is passionate about something. I just don't know why it has to be a sport that requires her to fly through the air.

Wizard of Oz
So, this afternoon I have a call back to the Educational Theater Collaborative's production of the Wizard of Oz. This is big because they have a TON of people audition. I have done two previous shows with this group and it's awesome. I am not getting my hopes up because they have a million talented people audition. I will be happy to be the third woman from the right again.
I'm just sad because J can't do the show because of her gymnastics schedule. We were both in Pollyanna last year.
OKLAHOMA opens a week from Friday. It seems to be coming together. I am so used to shows being a mess at this stage of the game that I am getting nervous that things are going so well.

Happy day after the election to you!
J qualified for sectionals on Saturday. We need to keep our fingers crossed as the sectionals are on the second weekend of OKLAHOMA!. So if the level 5s aren't scheduled for the morning or early afternoon we will not be able to go and that means she won't have an opportunity to qualify for states. Of course, there is another whole season that starts in January. Her coach is doing the fall season because all the level 5s and 6s are new to their level so she wanted them to get in some meet practice.
My friend, Phoebe, got me to do Facebook. I'm not very good at navigating it so if you are on Facebook, let me know.
