HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!
We wish everyone a happy and healthy 2009!
Hope you had a great holiday. We spent Christmas Eve at home. We did our own Christmas that morning. The American Girl doll that was back ordered some how arrived on time for Christmas. J was very excited to see her as I had told her it would not be here on time for Christmas. The Van Scoy-Giesslers, the Chadwick-Flemings and Michael Wilfert came over for an Italian dinner.
We flew out of Manchester at 7am heading for Washington DC on our way to Chicago...I don't get it either but that's the airlines. We were able to see the Washington monument from the window of our gate. We arrived in Chicago and were met by my brother, Dan and his family at the airport. When we got to Al's everyone was there (Well, not everyone. My brother, John and his boys were in Boise and my brother, Robert is in Thailand but everyone who was coming for Christmas was there). Al and Katie cooked dinner with some help from Ellen. I just stayed out of the way. The kids were great! Especially since we didn't do presents until after dinner.
On Friday the kids swam at the motel and we went to see "The Tale of Despereaux". Saturday was the Field Museum and more swimming. Sunday, more swimming, the Bears game and then the Dan Hill's headed home. J was very sad to see her cousins leave. We went to see "Marley and Me" with Uncle Al. Of course, neither J or I had read the book so we didn't know it was a tear jerker! On Monday J and went to Chicago to see the Christmas windows. I must say, Macy's, in Chicago and NYC, does not do windows like Marshall Field's and Carsons did them. We met Katie to skate in Millennium Park but the line to rent skates was over 2 hours long so we headed back to Katie's and played Guitar Hero and American Idol on the wii with Russ. Katie cooked dinner and we had a few rounds of Catch Phrase before heading back to Zion. On Tuesday we packed up, went to lunch with Uncle Al , and headed back to NH via Philadelphia. All in all, a very good trip.
